Quipper Entertainment

Posting lyrics (sometimes my own), vids and songs of things of interest to me. I may even comment on the "things of interest" on occasion. Note that, just cuz it's posted here doesn't mean I like it. One request, though: please keep your comments clean. My links from this site are to other photo and/or music sites. For my list o' links, see my QuipSpot blog.

Love Those Outfits

Here are The Buggles, doing Video Killed the Radio Star. But that was before MTV killed videos.

But, what killed music? (At least the pop variety.)

Here

My back-to-back trips to Florida (I'm in the "home" portion of the fortnight right now, leaving again on Tuesday) reminded me about a tune I started writing right after Mrs. Quipper and I got married. We weren't even six months old, and I had a one-week trip extended to a two-week stay.

Somehow, the song morphed from about being away from home, into a song about a relationship that's not quite where it should be. (No, it does not apply to the Quipper household.)

The second hand is ticking,
I’m slowly wheedling away the hours until
I can see you again,
All I’m doing is thinking,
thinking about the time that I will be with you…again,

So many smiles and so many conversations
That we both yearn to have.
I long to see your face before the night is through.

It's so hard, can't you see,
This isn't how I wanted it to be.
I'm missing you, I want you to be here.

I have my head in the clouds,
This metal bird takes me to my next location
Without you…again.
I’m working on the wrong marriage,
Climbing ladders just to make a better life for you…again

So many trials and so many tribulations
On the road to life at home.
So many things to do and no time left for you…

Oh, I know, that it’s not supposed to be like this.
Please tell me, where did our lives go amiss?
Please help me, because I can’t figure it out alone.

It's so hard, can't you see,
This isn't how I wanted it to be.
I'm missing you, I want you to be here.

I pray every day,
Love shouldn't have to be this way.
I'm missing you, I want you to be here.

All the while with so little consolation...
Grasping for answers in air...
Looking for a quick fix that we know isn’t there

It's so hard, can't you see,
This isn't how I wanted it to be.
I'm missing you, I want you to be here.

I pray every day,
Love shouldn't have to be this way.
I'm missing you, I want you to be here.

It's so hard, can't you see,
This isn't how I wanted it to be.
I'm missing you, I want you to be here.

We both know something has to change,
But we don’t know a better way.
I’m missing you, I want you to be here.

Until that day,
The clock still ticks away.
Our proximity’s the same,
But our distance has changed.

I want you to be here.

Talk Radio Promotes Music

You say "what"? Well, Mrs. Quipper has been quite the big talk radio fan for a number of years, and I occasionally listen with her. I don't like surfing radio stations, and have better things to spend my money on than pay-for radio, so I don't hear a lot of the new music...unless it's bumper music on a talk radio station. That's how I first heard Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, Cumbersome by Seven Mary Three, and even a couple Rage Against The Machine tunes.

Well, Mrs. Quipper has always liked a song that was used in an "environmentalist wacko update". If you know what that means, then you've listened to the program and heard the song before. Well, I am about to alter your perspectives with the video, by Jackyl, for The Lumberjack Song.

That's the way we like it! :-)

That 70s Era

Speaking of '70s stuff, I think Everclear sums it up pretty well in this video.

How many items in the video do you recognize?

Song vs. Song, round 2

Round 1 was posted on my QuipSpot blog. Since moving all the entertainment stuff over here, I decided to post round 2 and all subsequent rounds over here.

Which one would you want to hear covered by a good local rock band, while paying $ to drink at your favorite watering hole? ("Both" and "Neither" are an acceptable answers.)

The combatants:

Yesterday - Santa Monica, by Everclear. A foot stomping, head bobbing good tune.

Today - Steady As She Goes, by The Raconteurs. More of a classic rock sound in my opinion.

70s Acid Trips Brought to Kid TV

Who could have thought that shows like HR Pufinstuf and Land of the Lost were actually good. What were the Kroffts smoking (or dropping) when they spawned these concepts? And what about the studios that thought they were good ideas?

Baby Bro - Live at the Gig

Baby Bro's band - Elegantly Wasted - was recently recorded for Live at the Gig. Click on this link to see and hear the band.

Note: the link may ask you to launch a new application. Click the 'Launch Application' button, and Windows Media Player will pop up shortly afterwards. The language is relatively clean; no F-bombs, slang terms for women, or other crazy talk.

If you like the band, please drop them a comment at one of their two sites, both of which are accessible from my Bands links.
