Quipper Entertainment

Posting lyrics (sometimes my own), vids and songs of things of interest to me. I may even comment on the "things of interest" on occasion. Note that, just cuz it's posted here doesn't mean I like it. One request, though: please keep your comments clean. My links from this site are to other photo and/or music sites. For my list o' links, see my QuipSpot blog.

Sick, In A Good Way

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's talents...especially on the bass or banjo. :-)

The funky looking instrument is actually an electric drum set. Go figure.

Sinister Minister, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

Some excellent scenery from New Orleans, too. Mrs. Quipper thinks some of it may be from the upper 9th ward, especially the cemetary scenes.

For Der Schreiben von Schreiber

Based on his posts and comments, Scott seems to be having a bad week this week. Either that, or someone's been slipping something highly bitter into his drinks.

Here, Scott, hope this cheers you up. (MWAAAAAHAHAAHAAAHAAAAAAA!)

Happy Halloween (a little early)

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are celebrating Halloween by giving a small concert in front of their closest 15,000 Northeast Ohio friends. Since I didn't want to pay the $50 per ticket, one of them will not be me. So, to celebrate in a more cost-saavy fashion, here are RHCP.

A 30-minute void

Okay, so my wife thinks this next ditty (more poem than song) is light and weird. I told her that this is what happens when I'm required to attend a business meeting a) at which I can contribute nothing, and b) has no affect on me whatsoever.

Question: what is the irony in the piece?

Thinking of you

A speaker is droning about topics unknown
I’m still not thinking of you
I’m writing this ditty off seeds that were sown
But I’m still not thinking of you

Coffee cups emptying, yearning for more
I’m still not thinking of you
Mind starts to wander to subsequent chores
But I’m still not thinking of you

Refrain:
Passing the time in tight, confined places
Looking for something to do
Spending my time on irrelevant plans
And I’m still not thinking of you
I’m still not thinking of you

The group’s not engaged and their minds are all distant
I’m still not thinking of you
Looking for ways to bail in an instant
But I’m still not thinking of you

The flow is now broken, the topic is breached
I’m still not thinking of you
A tangent is raised, no conclusion is reached
But I’m still not thinking of you

Refrain

A page full of doodles and a half hour later
I’m still not thinking of you
I’m causing trouble, now; me, instigator?
But I’m still not thinking of you

The group has dispersed, now unsure, agitated
I’m still not thinking of you
My mind is considering thoughts unrelated
But I’m still not thinking of you

Refrain

Toto - Rosanna

What happens when you take a group of accomplished session musicians, and put them together in a rock and roll band? You get Toto, which made some great music. Here is my favorite song from the band.

Say what you want about the video and it's West Side Story motif. It's kinda cheesy, but the song is good.

Just For Emily

Emily, this is for you, courtesy of your mom. :-)

Cult of Personality, by Living Colour

I loved this band in college. After their second album (did I say album?), I grew weary of them. They were pushing the envelope lyrically into places I didn't care, and their third album cover didn't help, either.

Now, for the two question test:
1. What is the singer's name?
2. In what Oliver Stone movie did he have a significant role?

BTW, the other musicians - Muzz Skillings, William Calhoun, and Vernon Reid, were all accomplished jazz musicians before joining Living Colour.

Weird Double Post

Couldn't resist this one, courtesy of Barb the Evil Genius. Thanks, Barb! Gotta love Michael Jackson wanna-bes, courtesy of Bollywood. :-)

As Mrs. Quipper and I watched this one, she said, "You should post a Weird Al video." So, in honor of my bandmates in Running in Circles, which plays "My Sharona" by The Knack, here is video #2.

ROFL!
