Okay, so my wife thinks this next ditty (more poem than song) is light and weird. I told her that this is what happens when I'm required to attend a business meeting a) at which I can contribute nothing, and b) has no affect on me whatsoever.
Question: what is the irony in the piece?
Thinking of you A speaker is droning about topics unknown
I’m still not thinking of you
I’m writing this ditty off seeds that were sown
But I’m still not thinking of you
Coffee cups emptying, yearning for more
I’m still not thinking of you
Mind starts to wander to subsequent chores
But I’m still not thinking of you
Refrain:
Passing the time in tight, confined places
Looking for something to do
Spending my time on irrelevant plans
And I’m still not thinking of you
I’m still not thinking of you
The group’s not engaged and their minds are all distant
I’m still not thinking of you
Looking for ways to bail in an instant
But I’m still not thinking of you
The flow is now broken, the topic is breached
I’m still not thinking of you
A tangent is raised, no conclusion is reached
But I’m still not thinking of you
Refrain
A page full of doodles and a half hour later
I’m still not thinking of you
I’m causing trouble, now; me, instigator?
But I’m still not thinking of you
The group has dispersed, now unsure, agitated
I’m still not thinking of you
My mind is considering thoughts unrelated
But I’m still not thinking of you
Refrain
